Sylvia Sessions

Sylvia was married to Windsor Lyon, Joseph, Heber Kimball and Ezekiel Clark. She ended up moving to a large house in Bountiful and operated it as a hotel.  On her death bed she told her daughter Josephine that she was the daughter of the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Agnes Coolbrith

Agnes was married to Don Carlos, Joseph's brother, who was opposed to polygamy. In spite of his opposition, Joseph married her 5 months after his death. After Joseph's death she married George Albert Smith. She did not follow George to Utah, instead went to California and married William Pickett and left Mormonism.

Louisa Beaman

Louisa married Joseph in a grove outside of town  at night disguised as man with a hat and coat. She was known as Joseph's first plural wife for many years, but we now know that is not the case. She ended up marrying Brigham Young. The town of Parawon was first named Fort Louisa, to honor her as the first plural wife.

Lucinda Morgan Harris

Lucinda was married to the wild Captain Morgan, after he died she married George W. Harris. Lucinda married Joseph while being married to Harris. She left George and joined the Catholic Sisters of Charity.

Fanny Alger

I am going to do a series of Joseph Smith's wives. This accomplishes  two goals, my fascination with Mormon history and my love of portraits. I am excited to see if my skills improve by the time I am finished. This is  Fanny Alger, historians are mixed on Fanny, some say she was the first wife, some say an affair.  I am inspired by Cass Barney's style, but hopefully this will evolve into something more of my own.

Waiting for grandma

I loved this photo of Zoe, all dressed up so cute waiting on the front porch for me to pick her up. It just melted my heart. I really don't have the knowledge or patience to do a portrait, but I have to start somewhere, so this is it. Oh how I love this sweet little girl.

Whitmore Library Exhibit

I have 2 paintings in whitmore Library that will be on display for the month of April. The last few weeks I have struggled with my paintings, I have been impatient and it really shows, I need to get my head in the right place. I did a little Youtube lesson this morning and was inspired by a cute English woman and came away with a few new techniques, I needed a new fresh approach.

Palette knife study - morning practice

I tried something I haven't done in awhile, I need to work on using my palette knife more, I like the thick rough texture of the paint.
